Volunteer

Volunteers are critical to our mission

We can’t do it alone! Millions of pounds of food pass through the Food Bank each year.  This food must be inspected, sorted and packaged before it can be delivered to our hunger relief network.

When you volunteer your time at the Food Bank, you are doing so much more than just sorting and boxing food for distribution. The food you prepare will stock the shelves of a neighborhood pantry and eventually ease the worry of someone facing hunger in their home.

For more information about how you can volunteer contact Volunteer Coordinator, Brooke Summers by phone at (810) 396-0210 or call/text at (810) 869-6987 or by email at bsummers@fbem.us.

The Impact of Volunteers

Volunteer experiences are available at the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan year-round, Monday-Saturday. We accommodate everyone ranging from individuals to large groups from businesses and community organizations interested in giving back to the community. Each year, nearly 7,000 people volunteer at the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. In just one hour, a single volunteer sorts enough food to feed 355 people!

No slip-on or open-toed shoes are permitted in the warehouse. Clothing should fit comfortably, allowing volunteers to move freely.
