Helping your community by giving your time

The Impact of Volunteers

Volunteer experiences are available at the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan year-round, Monday-Saturday. We accommodate everyone ranging from individuals to large groups from businesses and community organizations interested in giving back to the community. Each year, nearly 7,000 people volunteer at the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. In just one hour, a single volunteer sorts enough food to feed 355 people!

Volunteers are critical to our mission – THANK YOU for helping us feed the hungry in our communities!

Volunteer Today!

It’s easy to get started — individual volunteers can simply create a VOLUNTEER PROFILE in our system.

LARGE GROUPS must register by directly contacting volunteer coordinator Keri Brack at (810) 396-0210 or kbrack@fbem.us.

Our Handbook

Volunteers must be 12 or older; those under 18 need to be accompanied by an adult chaperone. Closed-toed shoes are required and sneakers or boots are recommend. No slip-on or open-toed shoes are permitted in the warehouse. Clothing should fit comfortably, allowing volunteers to move freely. Tank tops, mid-driff baring shirts, and low-cut tops are not permitted. Temperature in the warehouse varies, so layers are recommended. For more information, view our volunteer handbook below.
