Kids Cafe - A Place for Children

Kids Cafe is an after-school feeding program for children ages 0-18. Combining a hot, nutritious dinner with cultural and educational activities, the program has been in operation in eastern Michigan since 1996 when the Salvation Army – Beecher Corps first opened its doors to those children in need. Today, 15 sites are up and running assisting children with nutritious meals, activities and guidance.

How Can I Help the Kids Cafe?

  1. Donate to the program through the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Because each dollar donated can be translated to 14 pounds of food, your contribution to the program will mean more food available to local children.
  2. Make an in-kind donation. Kids Cafe is not just another feeding program; it is an opportunity to enrich children’s lives through education and activity. Keeping that in mind, each program would certainly welcome items such as games, books, and sports equipment.
  3. Volunteer. Your time is a valuable resource to all Food Bank programs, particularly the Kids Cafe. There are many facets of the Kids Cafe program, ranging from working directly with the children to food preparation and service. Regardless of the role you choose to play, the time you spend helping at a Kids Cafe is priceless.
